Equipped with a 12.8m play tower, the playground boasts advanced safety features, motion sensor lights on every level, security cameras, and a staircase for caregivers to stay close to their children. The tower has been meticulously designed and certified to ensure maximum safety while providing an exciting challenge for children. The feedback from both kids and adults alike has been overwhelmingly positive. The sound of children playing always brings a playground to life, and it's extremely satisfying seeing so many happy faces.
The playground has a huge amount of play value, including climbing walls, two massive slides, four rope climbing bridges, a see-saw at the top, games on the walls, binoculars and a telescope, toddler-friendly activities, a 4.5m high serious air swing, double flying foxes, ground-level activities including an inclusive carousel, musical instruments and play panels for those reliant on caregivers, and an additional basketball half court. Not to mention the many nature play elements from the first stage.
The site is now open to the Manukau community and residents from across Tāmaki Makaurau, serving as an epic adventure hub and fulfilling the goal of creating a flourishing Manukau city centre. This is part of the larger Transform Manukau project led by Eke Panuku, and it’s successful completion is a testament to innovative design, expert manufacturing, and collaboration.
The Hayman Park playground project was a collaborative effort, initiated back in 2016 and spanned over two significant phases. Playground People took a leading role in designing, manufacturing, and installing most of the play equipment within towering play structure and its surrounds. Despite the scale and complexity of the project, the teamwork between Playground People, Eke Panuku, Auckland Council, Bluewater Project Management, WALA - Wraight Athfield Landscape + Architecture, HEB Construction, Kobe Construction, Aireys, Enovate, eCubed, ArbEco, Park Central, SRS, Numat, DVQS and Total Sheet Metals, ensured a world class outcome.
