In 2020 we were approached by Waterlea School in Mangere Bridge about upgrading their old junior playground.
We were able to create a brand new playground design specifically for the existing playground footprint to make the most of the available space and have it ready for future sun shade sails. The school wanted to ensure there was plenty of varied challenge for their energetic younger pupils and elevated viewing platforms so that the new slide would be as high as the popular old one. Our design features two connected circuits with graduated levels of climbing challenge especially for the junior primary age group. The design allows for continuous flow of play to allow the large numbers of children using the playground to keep moving!
The revamp also included the relocation of the existing sandpit which freed up additional space. This created room for three different spinners from the Kompan range adding extra dynamic spinning and balance fun to the play area and rounded out the multiple play experiences in this exciting new play space – balancing, spinning, climbing, sliding, gliding, crawling, socialising, imagination play and brachiation.
Deputy Principal Andy Jones:
"We found the Playground People to be personal, professional and great value. We really appreciated the way they listened to what we were after and thought carefully about how best to utilise our space and meet our requirements. They adapted plans along the way when we created additional space and everything was done in a timely manner, and with excellent communication. We are thrilled with how our new playground turned out and, most of all, the kids love it! Huge thanks to the Playground People team."
