Whatawhata School

In 2021 we were engaged by Mitre 10 to work with them and their Helping Hands team to build fantastic new playgrounds for schools in need around New Zealand, in late 2023 the team at Mitre 10 MEGA Hamilton, decided to extend this initiative directly to one lucky local school After over 23,000 votes were cast at their Te Rapa & Ruakura stores, Whatawhata School was announced the winner. They submitted a compelling entry, showcasing their need for a junior playground after theirs was demolished 12 months earlier. We worked with Mitre 10 MEGA Hamilton and Whatawhata School to design a new playground that would fit their available space and provide action packed fun and challenge for their active junior school students. Principal Rob Gunn says "the opening of our new playground is a milestone achievement for our kura and community. We are very thankful that Mitre 10 MEGA Hamilton had a big enough heart to give back, and we’re so thankful to all who supported us to make this happen, especially our school PTA. We truly now have the best playground in Whatawhata."
